First a battle against false gods, then protecting the goddess of death, and finally defeating the true god to be reborn into the new world. Lightning went through it all with great vigor and bravery, now...now she was happy. No longer held back by fate, she could now live the life she chose, but before truly making her mark, she needed to find Serah and the rest of her friends. Arriving at her destination, she stepped off from the train onto the station. Looking up, she covered her eyes from the sun and looked to see lush green fields, with patches of flowers here and there. She smiled as she felt the warm caressment of the sun along with the sweet breeze that blew past her hair.

"Soon, will be together again!" she said to herself.

She began walking toward the road in front of her, marking the start of a new journey. It didn't matter how long it would take, she would find Serah along with everyone else and be reunited once again. As she continued down the road she encountered some of the few she had saved during her mission as the savior. They didn't have any memories of their time on the dying world, but she remembered them. How she had saved from thier self guilts and sins. Reminding her how saving them had save her from her guilt and brought them here, to the new world. Making her the person that she had kept locked away for so long to protect those she cared about, but now she didn't have to. Everything was as it should be, perfect. Halfway down, Lightning spotted a telephone and went searching through the phone book to find a number to contact Serah. She managed to find a number and began dialing the number. The phone began to dial, Lightning waiting for a least a minute or so and finally there was an answer.

"Hello, this is the NORA café, how can I help you?"

"Hi, um is Serah avaliable?" Lightning asked.

"W-who is this?" the caller asked back.

     "It's Lightning!" she answered.

"Lightning!?" exclaimed the caller. "I'm here, it's been so long. How are you?"

"Doing great, Serah! Been traveling night and day to finally be with you." answered Lightning. "How's Snow been doing?"

     Serah giggled gently.

"He's been doing pretty well, we both are. We are waiting for you, we've insisted that we don't get married. Not until you get here, Lightning. Will you get here soon?"

"I'm hoping so," she smiled. "I'm gonna keep going, Serah. You won't hear from me for a little bit, but I promise I'll be there soon."

"Okay, be safe Lightning." urged Serah. "I'll be here."

Lightning hung up the phone, picked up her baggage and continued alongside the road as the sun began setting. Walking along the path, she heard a vehicle approaching from behind. Lightning turned around and saw a pickup truck riding alongside her with an elderly man behind the wheel.

"Need a lift young lady?" asked the elder man.

"Yes," she answered. "Do you know where the NORA Café is at?"

"I do! Hop aboard and I'll take you there. It's a long walk."

"Thank you." she said as went to the passenger seat of the pickup and went on their way. As they drove on, Lightning slept away in a blissful slumber.

Once they had arrived, the eldery man woke up Lightning. She groaned gently as she began opening her eyes to see they had indeed arrived at the NORA Café. Getting out of the car, she thanked him as he left and went to the front door of the café. Lightning slowly opened the front door, stepping inside. The door behind her closed, triggering and the sound of footsteps became distinct. Serah entered from the kitchen and stopped as soon as she saw Lightning standing at the doorway.  For a moment or two, they didn't say a word. Then, Serah ran toward Lightning and both began hugging one another, smiling and laughing together.

"I'm so glad you made it, Lightning!" cried Serah as tears ran down her face. "I missed you so much!"

"I missed you too, Serah!" she replied with a smile on her face. "Where's Sn—?"

"Hey, hey!!" entered Snow. "Looks who's here, sis is back!

Snow came over, hugging them both.

     "Did you miss me sis?"

"Yeah," answered Lightning. "I missed you alright."

"It's wonderful!" said Serah. "Everyone is back together again! Come on, Lightning, sit. I'll get you some coffee."

Serah and Snow went into the kitchen to make coffee and something for Lightning to eat as she sat down at the nearest table to wait. Five minutes later, Serah came back with a nice, warm cup of coffee, setting it down on table.

"Be careful, it's a little bit hot. I made it just the way you like it!" smiled Serah.

"Thank you!" replied Lightning as she blew gently on the coffee and took a sip. "It's good!"

Serah smiled more, then Snow came in with a small cake with three candles and a message that read: WELCOME HOME LIGHTNING!

"Ta-da! Serah made it for you." said Snow. "I decorated it myself, well, with a little help."

Serah looked up to Snow and looked to her, holding her hand in his.

"So," Lightning began, but paused to take a sip. "When is the wedding gonna happen?"

"Well, we haven't really thought about that one really." answered Serah. "We still haven't even picked out the wedding dress, the date, any of it. We've been waiting for you this whole time."

There was a slight silence between them.

"We couldn't have had the wedding," continued Snow. "Not without you sis!"

Silence feel over them once again. Lightning silently got up from where she and then looked outside with her arms crossed.

     "Tomorrow..." Lightning said abruptly.

     Serah looked to Lightning.

     "Huh?"

Lightning looked to her sister and simply smiled at her.

"We can start preparing tomorrow!" Lightning suggested. "Go out and look for your dress, something for Snow and me, invite our friends, and set the date for the wedding!"

"Y-you really mean it?" Serah jumped.

"Of course, Serah!" replied Lightning, hugging Serah and pulling Snow into the hug. "This is what you wanted and this is what I want for you! Snow, well, we all know he'll make a great husband."

Serah smiled at Lightning as Snow gently wrapped his arms around her soon to be wife.

"Don't you worry!" said Snow with a great smile. "I promise, that this time. I WILL protect her! Count on it!"

     Lightning smirked.

"Good to hear it. I wouldn't want to punch you again."

     Everyone laughed and smiled.

"That's Lightning for ya!" joked Serah. "It's getting late. I think it's time that we get some shut eye."

"Good idea." agreed Lightning. "Do you have a room for your sister?"

"Of course!" giggled Serah as they went through the kitchen. "Right through the kitchen, we have rooms in the back. One for me and Snow, the one next to ours is yours Lightning."

Lightning opened the door to her room and saw a quaint bed in the corner with a small table with a lamp next to it, with a dresser drawer on the opposite side, and a bookself to the left from the bed with a few books.

"Well..." Serah said leaning in. "Is it any good?"

Lightning smiled as she set her baggage on the bed and then looked to Serah.

     "It's perfect! Thank you, Serah!"

Serah smiled back to her and then walked over to give her sister a warm hug.

"Goodnight Lightning," Serah told Lightning. "I'll see you tomorrow."

"Goodnight to you too, Serah." replied Lightning. "Sweet dreams! And goodnight to you too Snow!"

"Night sis!" responded Snow with a yawn and went off to the room next door. Serah said goodnight one more time to Lightning and then followed Snow to the room to get some rest. Lightning began unpacking her things then went on to put her night gown. Once she was done dressing up, she unrolled the cover, fluffed the pillow and gently lied down to sleep a goodnight's sleep.

This is the first time I've written a story based in the Final Fantasy XIII world, well, after is more like it. Fanfiction. This is my take on what Lightning is doing in the new world after defeating Bhunivelze. It'll take more than just this to get out the complete story. In fact. If I can get enough support from everyone. I do have a small little surprise in store for the continuation, involving a crossover (not really), but I am pretty sure you've all figured it out.
